This week we had spaghetti for the first time in months. My family likes to create an even chunkier sauce especially when they are eating it with spaghetti noodles, so we added in chopped bell and sweet peppers, onions, mushrooms, and olives.

Whether you are serving it alongside your favorite pasta or as a dipping sauce for your favorite appetizer, this clean eating marinara sauce is sure to become a family favorite.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 TBSP Vegetable Broth
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, peeled and minced
  • 1-15 oz Can Diced tomatoes
  • 2 TBSP Coconut Aminos
  • 2 TBSP Balsamic Vinegar or Red Wine Vinegar
  • ½ Cup of Veggie Stock or water
  • 2 TBSP of Onion Powder or ½ red onion, diced
  • 1 TBSP Dried Basil
  • 1 TBSP Dried Rosemary
  • 1 TBSP Dried Thyme
  • 1 TBSP Dried Oregano
  • 2 TBSP Garlic Powder
  • 1 TSP Sea Salt
  • 1 TSP Black Pepper

Instructions

1. In a sauce pan saute oil and garlic cloves for about a minute.

2. Add in the remaining ingredients and cover and let it cook on medium heat until it reaches a simmer.

3. Uncover and cook for about another 15-20 minutes, stirring often.

If the sauce is too thick, you can add in a couple of tablespoons of water until you reach your desired consistency and then serve.

Notes

You can use 1-15 ounce can of fire roasted tomoatoes in place of diced tomatoes for a more spicier sauce.

Store the remaining sauce after it has cooled down in the refrigerator or save any unused amount in a freezer safe storage and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.
